Welcome to the Managing Partner Development Institute.
Four experienced law firm consultants have announced the formation of the Managing Partner Development Institute to meet the needs of current and future law firm managing partners of small to mid-size firms. While there are many institutes, programs and other resources for the largest law firms, very few of the programs reflect the unique needs of firms with between 2 and 50+ lawyers.
The four consultants have each worked with law firms for many years, covering every facet of law practice management. Ellen Freedman, CLM is Law Practice Management Coordinator of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and President of Freedman Consulting. Mary Beth Pratt served four firms over 20 years as a marketing director, consults with small and mid-size firms, and teaches a course on law practice management at Temple University’s James Beasley School of Law. Daniel Siegel is a lawyer, technology consultant who assists law firms in the automation of their practices. David Sorin is a lawyer who works with law firms, startup and entrepreneurial companies to assist them in growth, risk management and proper operational steps. David is an entrepreneur himself, having successfully started and operated several businesses.
Ms. Freedman conceived the concept and organized the group in response to many conversations with law firm managing partners who commented on the lack of resources available to them to hone their skills. The next What You Didn't Learn in Law School™ program will be held on April 11 and 12, 2008 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is expected to draw current and future managing partners from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio, as well as administrators and executive directors from firms with 10 to 50+ lawyers. In addition to its conferences, the Institute will provide on-going resources to attendees.
